Easter in Spring Creek Nevada: We were so happy to go to Grammy's for Easter this year since we didn't go last year and we thought Grammy might be in Washington this year, but it all worked out and we had a blast!
Egg hunt #1: The local grocery store put on an egg hunt and we got there just in time! As we were getting out of the car they blew the whistle and all the kids went for it! It was mostly fun but ended up being a little messy with the real hard boiled eggs getting smashed by all the kids, and the bounce houses were out of control with so many kids unsupervised (lots of tears, including Avenlea's and Milly's who each got crushed by big kids going up and down the slides). We are thinking next year we will make the drive out to crescent valley for their egg hunt. It was soooo crowded because it was the only egg hunt in spring creek. But the kids scored some fun taffy and lots of eggs!

Avenlea went right to work finding her eggs!

Dying Easter Eggs: We brought about 3 dozen of our own chicken eggs to color and grammy had about that many so there were tons of eggs for all the cousins to dye. They are still in the one color for maybe ten seconds phase of coloring eggs but they still looked pretty!

Just a little sample of the eggs they made!

Grammy was so happy with all the Grandkids around :)
Uncle Randyn was nice to let most of the kiddos borrow an old shirt to protect their clothes
We finished up the day with a yummy Easter dinner on Saturday since most everyone tries to leave pretty soon after church to make it home at a decent hour with the 4-5 hour drive
This little roller coaster was a big hit! They were so good at taking turns and helping the little ones who couldn't push the car up themselves
Em and her family came up in the afternoon on Saturday on Em's actual birthday! She had a yummy carrot cake with a cool flower candle that moved and sparkled
Easter Day: The Easter bunny hid our baskets right in our room this year along with some fun candy filled eggs. They all loved the little toys and treats and were so anxious to go on their egg hunt!
Blain snacking on his yummy candy and holding his little Mario Figurine, just like the one he had been eyeing in the store!
Avenlea working so hard to open her own eggs
Coming in to celebrate with Em and Ted and Sadie on her first Easter!
Chloe found her 3 eggs really fast and helped her siblings find their baskets just like last year doing hot and cold as clues
Zeyta and mommy enjoying a treat!
Family Picture after church
After church we came back to Grammy's to find over a hundred eggs hidden around the yard filled with yummy treats and some dollar bills that all the (older) kids were super excited about.
For some reason Blain wasn't super thrilled about egg hunting again until I told him a little Ladybug told me she saw dollar bills in some of the eggs!! He was all for it after that!
Chloe opting to use her home made valentine's bag instead of a basket
Uncle Ted helping Zeyta get an egg
Zeyta checking out her loot and peeling a colored egg
Cutie Pie Egg hunters - Avenlea was having a little melt down over egg hunting again this year. She did find a couple with much encouragement but overall was a little on the cranky side during the hunt and wouldn't come take a picture with her basket. All well.
Eating yummy Popsicle treats from Grammy just before heading out to Heber
Chloe's First Soccer Game: We signed Chloe up for Rec soccer and her first game was Tuesday. Watching how cute and a little clueless as to the rules of the game she was made me feel like we should do a little training. Her coach will be holding practices once a week which I think will help alot. She did really good for her first game! She needed a little reminding to watch the ball but she sure did hustle!
Getting Back on Defense
Water Break
Champion! Her team won 5-1
Grandma Janice Comes to Visit: It was awesome having grandma come and stay for a quick visit this week! She was able to watch Chloe's soccer game and dance class, Blain's gymnastics class, and help me finish weeding and mulching the raspberries. We also spent a day in Orem with mom and the other Mitchells ;) and had a really great day playing together at a park, chuck e cheese and having yummy frozen yogurt!
They all took turns on this little ride! Here's Avenlea :)
Chloe on the little swing ride
Summer and Avenlea riding a car
There goes Blain, up up and away!
Ski Ball! oh man, they were all struggling to get the ball up the ramp into the correct game. Those balls were flying all over the place! Blain liked ski ball and a water shooting game
Chloe got the rolling motion down after a couple games worth but still wasn't super smooth. Chloe saved all her own tickets and ended up with 49 tickets, good job sweety!
Avenlea with Chuckie
Avenlea and Zeyta both got too scared to finish this ride. Pretty intense monster truck ;)
Avenlea spent all her tokens on rides - this dragon, trucks, buses, cars, space ships...
Zeyta playing the duckie game
She loved the balls for ski ball and it was hard to get her to give them back!
This park was spefifically designed to be accessible for kids in wheelchairs. They had plenty of high backed swings that the kids all thought were extra fun!
Piled high on the swing. They were singing and laughing so hard for about 20 minutes while grandma pushed them all!
Avenlea trying her luck at traversing the mountain. This rock wall went sideways and was hard for Avenlea because you needed to have both feet on one foot hold. She got around this by skipping a foothold (almost doing the splits) then holding herself up with just her arms until her other foot came over to the spot she skipped. She's so tiny!
Try to find Avenlea!
American Ninja Chloe
Cousins at the park - Zeyta was at Em's house napping
Chloe finished out her day with a shopping trip to Joann's with Grandma for her birthday present. She picked out some ballerina fleece and white fleece to make a blanket, pillow and some home made stuffies. This is them cutting out the blanket
Chloe helped cut and tie the blanket with Grandma and finished it before school the next day. She loves her ballerina blanket with the tickles :)
Chicks: Our chicks never hatched and after candling them we found out they were never fertile to begin with. So Nate took a trip to the feed store while we were down in orem and bought 13 chicks (americauna, deleware, welsummer, maran, and australorp).
We hoped to trick the mamma into thinking they were her chicks and it seemed to go OK at night, they all snuggled right under her and stopped peeping almost immediately. But the next morning we saw that as soon as they would come out from underneath her she would peck at them and not let them back under her. We quickly got her out of there and put in a light to keep them warm.
We lost one during the night and another one appears to have a broken leg or something because it can't walk very well. But I've been carrying it over to eat and drink a couple times throughout the day and it seems to be getting stronger, she can hop and is sitting up rather than lying on her side.
Lets pray these 12 make it and are all girls to replenish our flock! Oh the farm drama ;)
