Soccer Games: Chloe has a couple more games left for her rec soccer league. It is so fun to see her learning more each game. She scored her first goal on May 2nd!! She had a nice solid kick to score her goal after the ball got knocked out to her. She was SO happy and ran right over to give me a hug.
Chloe running back on defense. She seems to like defense better but the coach has them all rotate positions. She has a really good Goal kick and has even gotten an assist off of one that went all the way to half line! She is learning to watch the ball better and be aware of where she needs to go when the ball moves certain places, and of course her soccer kick is getting super strong :)

Counting down til school is out: Old Mill Elementary has been doing lots of fun things to get the kids excited for end of year testing and the end of school. They dressed up for nerd day this week as well as pajama day, 80's day, and sports jersey day. Chloe's class is also popping a balloon each day at the end of class to see what special thing they will be doing the next day, some things have been flashlight games and a little dance party.
The nerds!
Getting ready to leave for the bus
Blain is loving dressing up since Kindergarten isn't usually involved in dress up days. I didn't recognize him when he walked through the door after school because that style is so different from how he usually dresses! Made me do a little double take!
Library Fun: We make sure to go to the library at least once a week to restock up on super hero books, junie B Jones books (and recently Nancy Clancy books - the more advanced reading version of Fancy Nancy which Chloe loves!) and random books off the shelves that Avenlea and Zeyta can reach. Chloe is reading 3 or more of those chapter books a week which makes me so proud that she loves books just like her mommy!
Zeyta has really started liking story time and will sing along, clap and do all the actions the older kids are doing. She still won't sit on the rug with the kids but when it's time for actions she always gets down and jumps, etc. with the group. She is "rolling hello to Grandma" in this picture.
Avenlea is so careful with her crafts! This past week I let her take as much time as she wanted and we were at the library until 11! She colored the entire tiger orange then added pink and green and also added lots of stripes.
Zeyta loves to glue, tries to cut and does good coloring on her crafts.

My two cute girls crafting away!
Avenlea's grumpy bird face, lol!
The Farm: There is so much going on this spring, although I feared warm weather would never come and wake our plants up! They all started to wake up then a big cold spell came for about 2 weeks and I was so worried they would all die! They seem to be bouncing back ok, we'll see if we get any fruit...
The chicks are growing like weeds and eating and drinking a ton! I've put in a bigger waterer and fill up their little food trough about every other day. They are getting into so much trouble I feel like I have to check on them multiple times a day so they don't die! I've found one stuck behind the door that I thought was opened enough that none of them could get behind, stuck between the waterer and food bucket, locked out of the coop when the wind blew the door closed, out of water multiple times because they dump their water dish over, and the list goes on!!
Today I went out to see the cherry trees all with blossoms! It looked like the frost had killed all the blossoms a couple weeks back but apparently they delayed their bloom or something because there are tons now! This is the Bing Cherry tree, unfortunately it's Black Tartarian pollenating companion only has a couple blossoms so we'll see how it goes.
And the first time the Bali Cherry trees have blossomed!! I'll be super excited if we get any fruit since it seems like the first year of blooms usually don't give any fruit.
I think the Peach trees took the hardest hit with the cold. There are a few blossoms on the Reliance and the c-24 (I think??) but the Contender doesn't have more than 2 on the whole tree which makes me think either it only fruits every other year or it got damaged with the late late SUPER cold frost.
Nate finished fencing the front half of the pasture! We initially let the cows into the pig pen and they were eating that grass down pretty quick, they probably could have stayed in their a week tops but Prince Ali the trouble maker bent the wheel lines so we opted to let them into their bigger area a couple days early. They are loving it and I rarely see them in the barnyard anymore.
We are still at 13 chickens including this good for nothing rooster. I never seem him breeding and he leads them into the garden all the time!! I've had to set up a barricade with 50 gallon barrels, the old gate and a couple big planting pots.
We are only getting 3-4 eggs a day right now so our "egg customer" won't be getting any at this rate, but I'm grateful to be getting any with all the trauma they went through!
Flowers on the Strawberries! The grass loves it in the strawberry bed but I try to make it out weekly to pull out as much as I can. I hope we get strawberries soon!!
And the big apple trees are loaded with blossoms right now too! It will be awesome for apples this year:) I want to do a lot more dried apples this time around.
I am going to plant out the broccoli today since they've been hardening off for about a week and have even spent the night outside. I'm on day 3 or 4 of hardening off the tomatoes and day 1 on the squash. I really should have potted them up again but the bigger pots are so heavy to move in and out every day that I'm hesitant to do it... I also got 4 big black tube things from a co worker who re did her garden and she gets amazing tomatoes so I'm hoping the heat and protection will help us get tomatoes. That and I'm going to fertilize the mess out of these tomatoes since I think that is a big part of my problem.
Play time: It's crazy to think that just 2 weeks ago we were stuck inside all day because of the freezing weather and now I have Avenlea begging to get the pool out or jump with the sprinklers on everyday. Utah weather for you!
Zeyta getting really good at building with Legos
We got snow almost daily for a whole week. It would melt most of the way but now you see why I was so worried for all my plants?
Every time I think I can put the snow gear away this happens!
Visiting the chicks in the freezing cold!
Eating a peanut butter and jelly tortilla - I was trying really hard to not go over our grocery budget in April ( I did it!!) so we had to get a little creative with our meals since we ran out of bread, honey, and a lot of other basics. It made me take a second look at our food storage and think how hard it would be to feed these kids without grains. I have some flour stored but really not enough for anything super long term, it would probably last a month or 2 if I made bread weekly. It also makes me want to store more pasta and rice since we eat a lot of it right now. We have TONS of meat in the freezer but the kids don't really eat it all that well. I guess they'd learn fast! HaHa, apple products, eggs, beef and pork every day. And MILK if Bella would do her job (or maybe prince Ali is the one to blame...)
Avenlea playing us all a little song
I found this tiny little leotard at the local thrift store and had to get it for Avenlea!!
She already really likes gymnastics, couple more years until she's ready for classes I think ;)
Trying out the new selfie stick
Princesses are making a daily appearance again!
Lots of outside play and picking flowers!
Chloe making a paper mache deer pinata which she created all by herself!
Blain busting open the pinata! It was so nice having lots of family over to celebrate Nate! He got lots of nice gifts and even Barbara and her family came all the way from Tooelle.

Blowing out his birthday candles on his cheese cake!
Cutting his pre sliced cheese cake with the birthday knife
Present time wearing the birthday hat!
Chloe made Nate feel super special all day! What a sweetheart and a lucky Daddy!
We got to watch Phillip at our house on Nate's actual birthday so we headed up to SLC to return him to his mommy and daddy and exchange some babysitting so we could go out for Nate's Birthday!
We went out to longhorn steakhouse and it was AMAZING! Everything was delicious from the yummy main course (bacon cheddar beef sandwhich and Nate's Steak and potatoes) down to the delicious blackberry lemonade. Even the free bread was awesome! We would go back in a heart beat! We used up the gift card from Nate's mom so the bill wasn't too bad either. Happy Birthday Nate I'm so happy I got to spend another year with you and I LOVE celebrating how awesome you are!!!
