Time in Otovalo

Otovalo was a fun couple of days. We had the cutest hotel on a lake and it also had alpacas roped in the yard. My room was on the second floor and we had an amazing view of the lake and of the mountains. We are at about 10,000 ft. right in the middle of the Andes. The theme of this trip has rapidly become jumping pictures and we took the oportunity to take a couple on the dock.

The main reason for visiting Otovalo was, of course, SHOPPING! I bought some awesome souvenirs including an alpaca blanket, earrings and baby clothes for Wendy. We also went to dinner where I ordered, bet you can't guess, spaghetti. It tastes nothing like it does when mom makes it but it is unique and still yummy.

After our day of shopping we were able to take of tour of some of the projects that the Benson Institute has been working on. They help families to become self sufficient by starting them out with some corn, chickens, guinne pigs and space for a garden. We saw 4 families who were all so proud of what they had done with what they had been given. While at these farms I took the opportunity to have my picture taken with a couple fun animals.
