Deer Fenced Garden: We finally did it. The garden is fully fenced with 8 ft fencing. Hopefully that will deter the deer and give our garden a better chance of producing in the future. They did pretty significant damage to the kale, peas, tomatoes, and trampled the carrots but everything else was left alone for the most part. I think it turned out pretty good even if it was a lot of hard work.
Love this little cutie pie
Our biggest pumpkin - this pic was taken about a week ago and it is almost all the way orange now!
Tomatoes: because it is going to get down to 29 degrees tonight I picked all the green tomatoes except for 3 plants that had the most on them. We covered them with a big tarp and are hoping for the best. Tomorrow we'll see if it helped. Fingers crossed for alive tomato plants!
The zucchini are also under a floating row cover. If they survive we may get a couple little zucchinis before it freezes again

I made this cute sign out of old particle board and 5$ worth of paint and supplies. Unfortunately I chose the wrong paint and all the writing has since washed away with all the rain we've been having.
The Farmyard: there have been a couple minor changes to the animals on the farm but here is the update
We were getting about 6 eggs per day, until Rainbow went broody and took over the remaining nesting box. There are technically 3 boxes but they only use the two spots that are currently occupied by broody hens (I fear Sunset may never be normal again). Rainbow has been sitting for 2 days now and it seems like Sunset has been sitting for over 2 months. I tried to make a little brooding area in the shed but Nate vetoed it saying it wasn't sturdy/predator proof/warm enough. He'll have to make one soon because we need our nesting boxes back and I would prefer to let them sit in peace rather than being moved daily while we check for eggs..
Little Honcho was showing such promise being out with the chickens and no attacks, until he ran at Chloe about 2 days ago. Now he will be joining his fellow mean roosters on a date with the plucker. We have let them all out for these next couple days to try and get some fertilized eggs to stick under our broody hens and maybe get some chicks before it gets REALLY cold.
Free Ranging Piggies: we have secured the pasture enough to let the pigs out! They are loving the freedom but don't do a whole lot of foraging. I've seen them out with Betty a couple times but mostly they dig up the dirt behind the wood shed, nap in their shelter, or hang out in the old chicken coop.
Usually they are really friendly and run up to me for head scratches but they were a little standoffish with the babies around for some reason
The girl likes to sit in their water. Poor big guy doesn't fit in there anymore ;)
Betty and the pigs - pasture is looking good after lots and lots of rain

Toothless and Princess Belle: We ordered Blain his costume and he has been asking to wear it every day since it arrived. We let him put the whole thing on once and just the mask from then on. Chloe likes to dress up in her Belle dress and I let her put sparkles on to make it feel more special. They are getting ready for Halloween!

Sparkly Belle
Daddy and Toothless Blain - we would pretend to be scared of the dragon then he would take the mask off and say "it's just me Blain". Love that little boy.
