It's been pretty quiet around here, Em came to finish up her apples and we ended up drying them and making fruit leather from the apple sauce (delicious by the way).
Apples in the dehydrator - we have 7 trays and each fits about about one apple. They dried for about 10 hours but probably could have dried faster if I rotated the trays a little more. A full dehydrator filled a quart plus a pint sized mason jar. Not a lot for how long it took, but they sure are delicious!
Cute Em chopping apples - we juiced and sauced most of them and saved the best for drying
I locked the chickens in their run for 2 days (2 eggs a day because I can't find where they are laying) and we got 4 eggs one day and 7 the next. We let them out yesterday and got 5 eggs. Our Americaunas are the best layers as of right now. We usually get 2 green eggs and a couple times a week we get 3. Good job Pumpkin, Diamond and Geo! Little Honcho is still being a nice rooster and sunset is still broody as ever. I may have to look up ways to make her go back to normal, start laying, and stop sitting on that nest of rock eggs all day..
Sweet Summer - We went down for a frisbee game yesterday and then got to have a tea party with this cute girl and her family. We are on a team with Theron, Molly & Jonny, and Sam. It's fun having a bunch of us get to play together. Em put on a cute little tea party complete with scones and cambric tea after the game. Chloe and Marie loved the tea party and got to practice their "pleasantries". Grandma Rose's legacy is living on!
Our little sprout - first time with 2 ponies! Avenlea has been so good while we are hard at work on all the fall chores. Nate finished the deer fence and chicken plucker this weekend. I am going to paint the trees and stake them down so we can let the pigs out into the pasture. It's been so cute to see Avenlea playing alongside Chloe and Blain.
