The only problem is they haven't quite figured out how to get back in. I set them on the bottom of the ramp... nothing. move them up a few more rungs... nothing. If I put them one or two steps down then they walk up into the coop. It's a little time intensive gathering them all up, but Chloe has been a big help by going under to shoo them towards me.
You can see the size difference pretty good in this picture
Chloe and Blain like to sit on the nesting box to watch the chicks through the little window
Surprisingly our meaties are the most adventurous when it comes to going in the run
I told Chloe to sit by the garden for a picture and this is how she sits. Cutie little poser.
2 horse trailer: Nate has been looking for a cheap trailer for a couple weeks and he found "the one" yesterday night. He had to put new lights on it and rewired the whole trailer but it's perfect for what we need. So after borrowing Ted's truck he picked up a bunch of hay (23 bales) and straw (16 bales) that we found for a good price on KSL. We hope to use it to continue collecting branches for our wood chip garden/orchard project. I also like the fact that we now have a way to transport Betty if she needs to go anywhere.
Bringing home the hay
Playing in the trailer
A little old and rusty but functional
I foresee lots of play time happening in this little trailer
Back to Eden: We have started collecting branches to hopefully turn into wood chips so our garden can be as awesome as those back to Eden gardens in the videos we've seen. Nate asked a family who is clearing land to build a house for their branches and they were nice enough to let him haul them away in their truck and trailer. It was hard work getting them off in that pile but worth it.
Nate with the growing pile of branches. Now all we need is a chipper.
