Big 6 year old: Yesterday was Chloe's birthday and she sure lived it up! She loves getting her way all day and kept saying " I love it when you say yes!" and kept asking me for little things like a candy or to play with her for a couple more minutes or to watch her scooter. I try to make her feel extra special so I said "yes" to just about everything she asked for that day. It was a little wearing trying to keep her super happy while juggling everything else I had to do but it was worth it for her to have an extra special day.
She got some special treats from school including that pudding in her hand, a couple suckers, and a special "I'm 6" sticker for her to wear
Enjoying her sucker dipped in nerds
I was so impressed with her doing that pillow craft that she got from her friend for her party. I showd her how to poke the little fabric squares in and she figured our the rest all on her own. I went outside to work on digging the garden and when I came back in about 30 minutes later she was half way done and had figured out the pattern and where all the colors should go. What a little smarty!
Chloe picked out chocolate icecream and mint icecream to go with her left over birthday cupcakes. I let her eat as much as she wanted, and she ended up with about 9 smallish scoops of icecream between the two flavors. She decided she doesn't like cupcakes as much as cake, so next year we'll be doing cake :)

Avenlea was SUPER clingy the whole time, but she did turn on the hose even if she didn't want to hold it.

Zeyta was so good the whole time, despite missing her morning nap

Bella and Ferdinand: Little Ferdi is leaving us about 3/4 to 1 gallon per milking right now. We have successfully kept the last 2 milkings (both of today's) after tying her "standing" foot lower down to the post so she can't kick poop/dirt into the milk or kick the bucket over when she fidgets. It's taking us 30 minutes when we milk together including clean up and milk cleaning. Nate bought a squeegie broom that is working out really well in keeping the milking area about 100% cleaner after she's done in there. One of the nice surprises about Bella is the CREAM in her milk!! We calculated we are getting about 20 - 25% cream based on the cream line in inches from the total in inches per jar. I think I'm gonna make butter in the next couple days!
Little Ferd before his great escape. We figured out he can fit through the slats in the stanchion when he stepped right through, proceded out the barn door and across the street to our neighbor's yard. Nate got him back into our pasture with a little tail catching trick and directing his hips while he walked. I'm a lot more careful to close the barn door now that I know he can fit through! He's still doing good and I often see him up and skip/running when I look out the window. Farm life is hard but so worth it when we get things figured out and are able to reap the benefits of all that hard work!
