My big kids and bye bye Betty

Blain goes to Preschool: Blain had his first day of preschool at Sunshine Circle last Tuesday and I can't believe how grown up he looks! His teacher's name is miss Kelly and he likes story time and snack time best so far. He goes M, T, Th for 2 1/2 hours. What a big kid I have!

Blain in his new school shoes that light up - he picked them out himself and has been so excited to wear them for school

Betty: We worked really hard this last little bit to get Betty ready to send off to her new home. We milked twice a day and finally started getting decent milk again after the initial decrease in production after weaning. The drop off was a little rough for Nate as the trailer blew out 2 tires and Betty was really nervous with the new owners, but we hope everything is going well for them now and Nate is home safe and sound.
Our last gallon of milk from Betty!
Betty all loaded up to take to her new home. She loaded into the trailer really well for me but Prince Ahli was mooing for her and kept running to the different gates. I hope we can find a replacement cow soon because buying milk from the store was sad after almost 6 months of our own farm fresh milk. We are gonna hold out for "the right one" hopefully with a calf at her side so we can continue share milking and get lots of nice creamy milk!

Avenlea 2 year check up: Avenlea went to see Dr. Dave last week and she did great. She cooperated with everything he asked her to do, sat there quietly for her exam and loved holding the reflex hammer. She had to get 4 shots and got quite the fever about 24 hours afterwards, but seems to be doing well now. She weighed in at 22 lbs 6 oz (4th percentile) and is 33 inches tall (33rd percentile). Our tiny Avenlea is putting words together and loves to talk about Zeyta (Zeyta eat, Zeyta sleep, Silly Zeyta).
She likes Pablo from the backyardigans and Elmo stuffed animals. She loves shoes and fancy dresses. Avenlea makes us laugh when she says, "tuh - duh!" after completing a task (getting dressed, climbing up on something...). She is also getting really good at her colors. She knows Blue, yellow, pink, purple and red, and can say most of them pretty clearly too. What a cutie pie!
