Chloe's big ouchie

Trip to the ER: Chloe had her first hospital worthy accident today complete with around 15 stitches. Nate has been slowly putting up their Christmas present of a new swingset so they have been playing outside a lot more, especially with the warmer weather and NO SNOW if you can believe it. Well I go in the house and start making dinner after watching them play for a while and feeding the animals. No more than 5 minutes after I start cutting up our HOMEMADE BACON I hear a cry from Chloe that wasn't her normal "I'm annoyed at Blain" or whiney cry, so I go back out to see what's going on.

She was standing by the gate to the pasture crying and yelling, " I have blood". I tell her to come to me and when she starts she limps and then starts hopping. I know it's bad then. I run over to her and see blood on her pants and foot. One look at the bottom of her foot and I know she'll need stitches. I tell her we will get cleaned up and then go see the doctor to help her foot get better. Luckily this was happening right as Nate was on his way home. I had just put on a little makeshift bandage and wrapped it up when Nate came through the door.
The hospital staff were all very friendly and luckily there was no wait when we arrived. I carried her in and they had a special "stitches" room that we got to hang out in. Chloe was so brave telling them that she "stepped on the log" and cut her foot. From our deductions after looking at the blood trail, she was running from the patio to the pasture gate and clipped her foot on the edge of the big wooden pole that is laying on the ground that used to hold up the outside light. The doctor cleaned her foot out really well (he found a big chunk of wood!), and put some numbing cream on. She got to watch Curious George while we waited for the numbing to take effect, but then came the hard part.
Chloe tried her best not to cry but when they were injecting her foot she cried as I held her. The saddest was when she cried "no more, no more" and they were only about half way through. The whole process took about a minute but I could tell it really hurt. I was so proud of her and was glad she chose to sit on my lap so I could hold her for the whole procedure. After that the stitching went well, they put some special purple wrapping (Chloe's request) on her foot, told us to make sure she doesn't run for a week or so, and the stitches can come out in 10 days. We went home for some dinner, coloring, and a special treat of ipad and popcorn. She is so tough I think the hardest part is going to be making sure she doesn't play too hard too soon. She was already trying to walk on it when we got home. What a brave little girl I have.

Nate told me Blain prayed for Chloe's foot during the dinner prayer all on his own and during bedtime he asked to see her foot about 5 times, lightly touching it and telling her he prayed for her foot. What a sweet boy. Chloe doesn't seem real phased over the whole thing, she was even telling Blain how he can get purple bandages too when he cuts his foot open. I hope all goes well with her recovery and it doesn't hurt her too bad.

O Christmas Tree: We decided to save ourselves some money and just get a grocery store tree this year :( I wasn't super impressed with the only tree lot in town last year and we had to get milk anyways, but the tree is actually really pretty, full and smells just as good as the expensive ones. It is now sitting in the living room waiting to be decorated. The babies have been playing with the lights, calling them "light buggies" and plugging them in on their own. Avenlea likes to sit in the pile of lights too, so it's nice to see them playing together.

Gingerbread House: Aunt Teresa gave Chloe a gingerbread house last year but as we were down in San Diego for Christmas there wasn't time to decorate it. Well Chloe has been eying that house for a year now so we decorated it earlier this week. Chloe and Blain had a lot of fun despite not being able to eat it. They each got a half of the house to decorate and a star cookie tree to make. Our lovely gingerbread house is now sitting on top of the bookshelf looking beautiful and out of reach of little grabby hands. It was a fun way to kick off our holiday crafts and candy rush!

Fuzzy picture but I gotta write this little story down: Chloe was womping on Blain during their first pillow fight, knocking him down and smashing her pillow on top of him. Blain was loving it and ran away laughing. As Chloe ran after him she said "I'm good at this" and then took another swing at him. We have the video and it's hilarious.
Avenlea has been loving Raja, both riding on him now that she can climb up by herself and crawling/hiding under him. She is also climbing up on chairs and the table now which makes life a little more complicated. Love my little active baby!

And speaking of babies, we are happy to announce we are expecting BABY #4 in June and couldn't be happier! I went to the doctor this past week where he did a little ultrasound and measured the heartbeat to be about 160. The baby looks good, active and healthy. My new doctor, Dr. Cook, is really nice and I have a feeling I will have a good experience delivering here in Heber. Maybe a baby bump picture and the the ultrasound pics to follow.
