We have pigs!

Large Black Pigs: So last night Nate went to help a family in our ward move. It is the same family that we bough Betty from, they are moving to Missouri to start a dairy there which is awesome for them. Well I guess they had been trying to sell a few things that didn't get sold in time and they were offered to Nate. Some of those things included a chicken tractor, a chute/stanchion, kitchen table, and 2 little black pigs.

It's a little bit of a shock having them but I don't think I can describe how EXCITED I am to have these little pigs on our homestead. Other than a milk cow, pigs are the animal I want most for all the wonderful things they can help with around the farm and the yummy food they will provide us with this coming winter!
They are currently living in the horse trailer while Nate works on making them a pig proof pen. I went to the feed store to get them a bag of pig food but I plan to stock up on the bulk feed from the mill in Spanish Fork on Friday which is half the price of bagged feed. Large Black pigs are supposed to do really well on pasture so I hope we can figure out a way to get them into the pasture securely so they don't escape but can still roam around. I would also like to put them in the future garden area for a while so they can help get that space grass free and fertilized.
The chicken tractor and shoot that Nate is going to convert into a milking stall for Betty. I continue to be in awe over their generosity and feel so blessed. Talking with Mamma today I realized these items were both things we had on "the list" to build in the near future, I know Nate is grateful he doesn't have to make them now!
