Avenlea's Eye Surgery

Bilateral Nasal Lacrimal Probe with Stent: That is the procedure that Avenlea had done this morning around 7:30. We got there at 6:30 am to check in. We met with Dr. Yeates, 3 different nurses, and the anesthesiologist to get Avenlea ready for her little surgery. They all asked her about allergies, cold symptoms, and history of reaction to anesthesia so we got to answer those questions about 15 times, but worth it I guess to make sure she was safe.
yummy food before she had to be NPO
The Anesthesiologist asked if she would be calm leaving us and Nate and I both thought she would be pretty upset, so he gave her Versed to keep her calm before going under. She was just starting to get really relaxed when the OR nurse came to get her and she went with her in the warm blanket willingly.

About 30 minutes later Dr. Yeates comes in to tell us the surgery went well but she needed to have the tubes put in after all. He said the duct was really tight with lots of "gunk" (he didn't call it that) but he got it cleared and her eyes should be 90% better tomorrow. He also warned us she would have bloody tears and a little bloody nose throughout the day.

Maybe 15 minutes after the doctor left we hear a crying baby and the nurse is bringing us a very fussy Avenlea. The binky calmed her down initially and I was allowed to nurse her which was a good thing because she had been NPO since midnight. After eating she promptly threw up a bloody mucousy mess all over me and her but kept the milk down. Mamma thinks that was probably from being intubated and just coming out of anesthesia.

They watched her vitals and finished a bag of fluids which took a little while. The nurse was so nice getting us drinks and cookies, calling Avenlea "princess" and reassuring us that things were normal and that she was doing great. Avenlea would rest with her binky then arch and cry for a second until we put the binky back in. Right when she started falling asleep we were told we could go so we packed up and were in the car driving home around 9:30.
 Napping on the ride home
Little sweetheart started out a little fussy in the car but cheered up almost right away and then fell asleep for a long 2 hour nap. She has been such a happy little one pretty much back to her normal self already. She is currently taking another long nap and has been having fun playing with her family
Thanks Sam for taking care of Chloe and Blain!

Farmy Update: We got a record 6 eggs today which was lots of fun since I like to compare the eggs. I went out to find Sunset sitting on the eggs as usual. I moved her and removed 5 eggs thinking that was it for the day which would have been the most we've had. I came out an hour or so later to find Sunset was still sitting. I moved her again and there was her egg. I guess we have lots of similar looking eggs but I'll take it! I'm thinking Eggs tonight for dinner.
 Yummy
We now have FLOWERS on the pumpkins, cucumbers and cantaloupe. They seem so small to be flowering but hopefully those flowers will turn into yummy food by the end of the season. I also noticed a tiny jalapeno and several more jalapeno flowers. It's so cool to see all these plants giving veggies that I started from seeds months ago.
I let Chloe look for the flowers since she is always making bouquets and loves flowers
Some of the carrots had orange sticking out from the dirt so we picked 5 carrots. Chloe picked a medium one to eat. We also picked a beg one with a quarter size top bt it branched into 4 "toes" as Chloe called it. The ground is pretty hard so there was a lot of branching, hoping for softer ground with some amending for next year.

Weekend at Molly's: Molly and Melissa invited us up for a night of cards and a day of swimming. We swam all day, put the babies to bed then played team knertz. It was an epic game to 500, at the end 3 of us were within 8 points of 500 after going back and forth but never passing the mark. Happy to report I was the winner of that awesome game of knertz. Card games are so fun, especially knertz!
Swimmer Blain - Nate taught Chloe and Blain to paddle and swim with their floaties on. They got a little scared at times but overall had lots of fun swimming in the deep.
