Canning: I'm sure when I've been canning for years and years I won't blog about every time I make applesauce, but this was my biggest batch so far. I used all those apples shown, plus about another bowl full once they were in the pot and I had more room. The apple jelly was a complete failure, it's more like apple water with lots of sugar. It did not set at all despite TONS of apple peels/cores. So I haven't successfully made jelly or jam yet, its either way too firm or too runny. Hopefully I'll get it right one of these days. My one tip I want to remember is to get the bubbles out, wipe down the rim and then put the hot lid and ring then put it on the rack in the canner. That way I'm not going back, taking all the cans out of the water to put the lids and rings on. I think it will save a bunch of time. But we got 9 quart jars, 3 pints of apple sauce. yay! and this time it looks the right color too!
What a cutie

To the Library: I take the babies to the library on Wednesdays for story time with Miss Sally and they each get to pick a book to check out. So far Chloe chooses books about the shows she likes (Dora, miss spider...) and Blain chooses super heroes, bugs, or trucks/trains (typical boy). They are so cute to watch singing along to the songs and listening to the stories/activities.

Play Time: Chloe and blain have been making good use out of a big box that the foam floor tiles came in. I can't even begin to name all the different things it has become, but this picture is of them hiding from the people that are coming and Mommy has to close the lid so nobody will see them.
Of course the baby doll has to hide too, Thanks Melissa for the babies, they sure are loved!
Hunting: OK, so we didn't really go hunting but Nate has gone out a couple times for his elk hunt and last Friday he took us up to the mountains for a drive, which also happened to be a hunting spot. We looked at the fall colors, played in the snow, had a picnic with yummy hot chocolate, and saw 7 deer! Before we left Nate carved our names in a tree and wrote "1st Mitchell family Mtn Trip". We want to go to the same spot next year and see how it looks.
Chloe and Avenlea getting ready to go get a deer
All bundled up
On the road we let them sit up front to look for wildlife since we were going about 10 mph. It payed off, there were two deer right on the road in front of us and both Chloe and Blain saw and pointed to them. Avenlea slept the whole time...

Daddy also took the babies "hunting" in the backyard. He let them shoot his air soft gun at apples and they actually hit some of them!
